Betting Tips Methodology

Last updated: 13 June 2026

OddsTips.co.uk publishes betting tips for information and entertainment. Our aim is to identify fixtures where the available historical data, market prices and match context point in the same direction. No betting tip is guaranteed, and every reader should bet responsibly and only with money they can afford to lose.

How We Create Betting Tips

Our process combines algorithmic screening with human review. The algorithm helps us sort large volumes of upcoming fixtures by comparing statistical signals, odds markets and team performance patterns. Human review is then used to sense-check the strongest selections before they are published.

This mixed approach helps us process more matches than a manual-only workflow, while still allowing editorial judgement where numbers alone may not tell the full story.

The Main Data Groups We Review

We do not publish the exact weighting of our model, but our football analysis uses dozens of data points across several broad groups:

  • Fixture context: date, country, league, game week, home team and away team.
  • Team form: pre-match points per game, current points per game and overall points per game.
  • Goal trends: average goals, over/under goal rates and both-teams-to-score averages.
  • Half-specific trends: first-half and second-half goal patterns, including over/under and BTTS indicators.
  • xG signals: pre-match expected goals and match-level expected goals for home and away teams.
  • Match activity indicators: corners, cards, shots, shots on target, shots off target, offsides and possession where available.
  • Odds markets: home win, draw, away win, over/under goals, BTTS, double chance, draw no bet and corner markets.
  • Historical matchup data: team-level and match-level records used to understand how similar fixtures have behaved.

Not every fixture has complete data for every field. Where a market or match indicator is unavailable, incomplete or stale, we treat that as a limitation rather than forcing a selection.

Odds and Price Checks

Odds shown on OddsTips.co.uk are supplied through a bet365 odds feed or checked against available bookmaker markets at the time of publication. Prices can move quickly, especially close to kick-off, so readers should always check the latest odds, market rules and terms directly with the bookmaker before placing any bet.

Human Review

Our editorial review looks for obvious reasons why a purely statistical pick may be weaker than it appears. Examples include unusual fixture conditions, team rotation risk, major team news, injury uncertainty, scheduling pressure or missing data. These factors can affect a match even when historical records look favourable.

We currently keep this review generic on site because the exact model and weighting are proprietary, but the broad principle is simple: we prefer tips where form, xG, historical performance and odds context are reasonably aligned.

What Our Tips Are Not

  • They are not financial advice.
  • They are not a promise of profit.
  • They are not a record of guaranteed value.
  • They are not a substitute for checking current team news, prices and bookmaker terms.

We are entertainment first. Our job is to help readers consider matches more carefully, not to encourage risky betting behaviour.

Future Improvements

We intend to improve transparency over time, including clearer records of historical tip performance when reliable tracking is available. Until then, users should treat every tip as a view based on available data at the time, not as a verified long-term profit record.
